About Joe and Restoration Tour Group
Joe's enthusiasm for church history is truly inspiring. His deep love for the restoration is evident as he recounts the remarkable stories of the men and women who played pivotal roles in the many miracles that occurred in places like Palmyra, Harmony, Independence, and Nauvoo.
As a nearly lifelong resident of Kirtland, Joe has witnessed and actively participated in the significant transformations of the area over the past 40 years. Growing up in the heart of church properties, he made a remarkable discovery in his own backyard: the foundation of the original Ashery. This excavation ultimately led to the reconstruction of both the Ashery and the Sawmill, once owned by Joel Hills Johnson, paving the way for the restoration of the historic Kirtland Village in 2003.
During his time in Kirtland, he has been deeply committed to uniting the church with city leaders, other faith leaders, and community members. In recent years, Joe has been involved in the restoration of the Joseph & Emma Smith Home. Joe has worked closely with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Community of Christ during the transfer of stewardship of the Kirtland Temple. He has a deep love for the Community of Christ, the other faith groups in the city, and all things Kirtland.
Our tour groups are more intimate than many other companies, ensuring that every guest enjoys a personalized experience and feels at ease asking questions. This smaller size also enables us to access sites that larger tour buses can't reach. You’ll gain insights into the lives of the early Saints and the remarkable circumstances surrounding many of the revelations recorded in the Doctrine & Covenants.
